We took a road trip for the first time with both kids this weekend...it was for a sad occasion (Uncle Denny's funeral), but it was a really fun trip and wonderful celebration of Denny's life.
I had court in Riverside in the morning, which is on the way, so it was take your kids and husband to work day!
The trip went a little down hill from there. First, a big rig caused a giant piece of tire to flip up in the road, Gary had to swerve but still ran over it causing his entire under bumper to fall off his BRAND NEW car. About two minutes later, Ella got sick in the car, and threw up all over herself and her carseat. We had to pull off the road, change Ella's clothes, clean the carseat, and Gary found that the bumper thing was still half attached to the car.
On a positive note, with the exception of the about 15 minutes that Everett was screaming at the top of his lungs because he was so over-tired, the kids were angels throughout the entire 6 hour drive.
We went to the mall to get out of the 111 degree (yes, that's right 111- ridiculous) heat, and Ella suckered grandpa into renting her this even though we were only going to walk around for 15 minutes before dinner...
Best of all, Ella got to spend time with her cousins, whom she absolutely adores...
They are so good with her, and she got to swim all alone with them in the big pool...
Needless to say, I was not popular when I told her she had to get out so we could put Everett to bed!
The next day, Everett got to meet his great-grandma for the first time!
And on the way home, we stopped in Palm Desert to visit grammy and pop pop. :)
